A new feature has just launched on TutorCruncher: Introducing the TutorCruncher MCP.

Our MCP means that you can now connect your chosen AI assistant to TutorCruncher, so you can run workflows, pull data, and more, using the conversational, everyday prompts so many people are now used to.

What is an MCP? 

First up, let’s clear up some AI jargon. MCP stands for ‘Model Context Protocol’, which is basically just a USB port for AI. Once set up, it connects your AI assistant to other software, like TutorCruncher, allowing the AI to answer questions and pull information directly. 

How does TutorCruncher’s MCP work? 

TutorCruncher has now built its own MCP, which means that you can connect your AI assistants, like Claude or ChatGPT, to your TutorCruncher account. Once connected, you can give the assistant the permissions you need to run tasks for you and help speed up your day-to-day admin. 

You can choose to give it access to your tutors, students and clients, jobs and lessons, invoices, payments, and more. This includes granting read and/or write access. ‘Write’ means the AI will be able to make changes in the TutorCruncher system, whereas ‘read’ gives read-only permissions. 

Remember, the connection can only access what you can access. For example, safeguarding concerns can only be accessed by admins with that permission. You can turn off the connection at any time and adjust the permissions in line with your business needs.

What you can ask your AI assistants: 

  • "List all lessons scheduled for next week."
  • "Which invoices are unpaid?"
  • "Create a new client called Jane Smith with email jane@example.com."
  • "Show me this month's payments."
  • "Add a note to client 12345."

This list is not exhaustive; there’s so much more you can do using our new MCP. We recommend taking some time to play around and see what tasks can be taken off your plate.
