As 2021 is coming to a close, we thought we’d reflect on some of the changes that have happened over the year. The tutoring industry has changed and evolved, and with this so has TutorCruncher. Some of these adjustments have been small, while others have been a bit more noticeable, but we’ll be going through some of the bigger changes that have helped shape the platform over the last few months.
Connect Express Accounts
Stripe Express has been something we were very excited to release. Stripe Express is a new form of receiving & sending payments within the platform. This new feature will allow for payments to be automatically split between the agency and the tutor. No more worrying about issuing payments to tutors outside of the platform or whether agencies should be issuing payments to tutors who are self employed, the whole process would be automated leaving you to focus on what's really important when it comes to running your tutoring agency. All Stripe Express accounts are managed by TutorCruncher, meaning payments would automatically be made to your bank account within seven days. This will streamline the whole process & make taking payments that bit easier. We're currently in the initial testing phase of this, with the main difference being you would only receive one charge on each Stripe Express transaction at the moment, rather than two which you would have previously received (Stripe & TC Card Usage Fee). We're excited to fully roll this out and have it accessible to all agencies in the near future!
Agency Wide Analytics
Analytics are a great way to monitor your agency's progress. You can use this feature to see the overall revenue for your agency, as well as how many hours your clients have received. For those agencies that have more than one branch, we decided to roll out agency wide analytics. This new feature means you can analyse how well each branch is doing from the one view. No more switching between branches to view that data, you can now do it all from the one branch.
New API Endpoint for Reports
API is the acronym for Application Programming Interface, which is a software intermediary that allows two applications to talk to each other. Each time you use an app like Facebook, send an instant message, or check the weather on your phone, you’re using an API. TutorCrunchers API is a great way to pull raw data from the platform and use it externally. Our dev team created a new endpoint for lesson reports, which means you can pull that data from the API & use that information externally.
Here are some of the smaller, but equally as important improvements over the last few months.
System Speed Ups
The TutorCruncher team pride themselves on always keeping the system fast. Since we want to save you time, a slow system is not an option for us! Based on customer feedback, our development team were able to identify pages which could be loading faster with a little back end redesign. While this is a continuous ongoing task, we have had a number of updates over the past few months specifically focused on loading user details and profiles.
The Crunch Event
We’re excited to announce we are launching our first conference in the form of ‘The Crunch’! We have invited a small group of thought leaders in the UK tutoring industry to discuss some of the issues which have come to define the current moment. This breakfast will take place at the beginning of December, but it will be recorded and shared as an invaluable resource for educators everywhere. We’ll be discussing how we can ensure that the tutoring industry adapts to a post pandemic world, and how this can be more accessible to all children, not just the privileged. This is an exciting step for us & will hopefully be the first of many!
Tutor App Development
Our dev team have been working hard in the background to roll out one of the biggest projects of the year so far for us, the TutorCruncher app. The app, which our developers plan to launch in 2022, focuses specifically on helping tutors. The app will allow tutors to complete most of their daily admin tasks faster. These will likely include:
- Editing jobs
- Marking lessons complete
- Taking part in online lessons
- Creating lesson reports
- Taking faster payment
